The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) in Malta provides public access to government records to promote transparency and accountability. For Payment Services Provider (PSP) licenses, this means that information related to the licensing process, regulatory compliance, and the status of licensed entities can be accessed by the public under FOIA provisions

The Freedom of Information Act (Cap. 496) (FOIA) requires public authorities, including Ministries, Departments, and Public Sector entities, to provide access to documents they hold, in accordance with and subject to the provisions of the Act.

For requests specifically related to an individual’s personal information, assets, interests, or right of access, the applicant must provide copies of an Identity Card or Passport to process the request and release the relevant information as stipulated by the Act.

However, it is important to note that the Gaming Act (Cap. 583 Art. 8) states that any document produced under this Act is to be kept secret and confidential and may not be disclosed or produced except for the purposes outlined in the Gaming Act.
